Keri Hilson Addresses Beyoncé Diss, Says She Was ‘Forced’ To Sing A Song She Didn’t Write: ‘I Felt I Had No Choice’
Keri Hilson is breaking down how her controversial diss track aimed at Beyoncé came to be.
While speaking with The Breakfast Club, Keri revealed that she didn’t actually write the record herself and felt pressured by her then-boss, Polow da Don, to record it. At the time, she was signed to him under a joint venture with Timbaland and Interscope Records. According to Keri, Polow threatened not to release her album if she refused to perform the track.
Keri described Polow as being “forceful” in pushing the record, despite her clear objections. She shared:
“I was in tears. I was crying. I was adamant that I did not want to do that.”
She added:
“I was super young. I felt I had no power. I felt I had no choice.”

The backlash from the “Turning Me On (Remix),” which many interpreted as a diss toward Beyoncé and Ciara, led to years of criticism, especially from fans of both artists. Despite the drama, Keri has long maintained there was no real beef, and at one point, even publicly cleared the air with Ciara, who also denied they were ever feuding.
