Sister Of ‘Black-ish’ Creator Kenya Barris Seeks Restraining Order Against Him Amid Years-Long Family Feud
Kenya Barris’ family feud continues.
Colette Barris has filed for a restraining order against her brother, Kenya Barris, accusing him of pressuring their 83-year-old mother, Ernestine Barris, to take his side in their ongoing legal dispute. In court documents obtained by TMZ, Colette claims Kenya is “manipulating and intimidating” their mom to get her to provide false testimony. She says Ernestine just wants to remain neutral.

The filing also states that things got so overwhelming for Ernestine that she hired her own lawyer, who then instructed both siblings to stop reaching out and instead communicate through legal counsel.
This all started back in 2020 when Kenya was the first to take legal action. He filed a restraining order against Colette, claiming she had been using his name to boost her own career in Hollywood. He also alleged she began threatening his six children and asked the court to block her from contacting his family.

In 2021, the siblings reached an agreement that barred Kenya from publicly disparaging Colette or interfering with her ability to sell her own projects. But now, Colette says she has a recording proving he violated that agreement and plans to take him to court over it.
In the meantime, she wants a judge to keep Kenya from contacting their mother to back him in their ongoing dispute.
