‘Home Alone 2’ Director Wants To Remove Donald Trump’s Cameo, Says He Would ‘Probably Be Sent Out Of The Country’ If He Cut It
If “Home Alone” director Chris Columbus had his way, he’d completely remove Donald Trump’s appearance from the second film.
Speaking with the San Francisco Chronicle, Columbus shared how the president’s brief cameo in the 1992 sequel, “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York,” haunts him. He stated:
“[It’s] become this curse. It’s become an albatross for me. I just wish it was gone.”
Before diving too deep into the idea, however, Columbus sarcastically joked that acting on those feelings could come with major consequences.

“I can’t cut it… If I cut it, I’ll probably be sent out of the country. I’ll be considered sort of not fit to live in the United States, so I’ll have to go back to Italy or something.”
Columbus previously revealed that Trump essentially “bullied” his way into the movie, explaining that the production team wouldn’t be allowed to film at the Plaza Hotel in New York unless they gave him a cameo.
Surprisingly, Columbus recalled, the audience actually applauded Trump’s appearance when the film was first released.
But things have certainly changed since then. Recent reports note that several petitions have been launched to remove Trump from the film, following backlash over his controversial stances on DEI initiatives, immigration, and education.
