United Airlines Flight Catches Fire After Rare Rabbit Strike, Returns Safely To Denver
A United Airlines flight caught fire after a rare rabbit strike. United Flight 2325 had just left Denver for Edmonton when the engine ingested a rabbit.
“Rabbit through the number 2, that’ll do it,” the pilot said. Flames shot from the Boeing 737-800, carrying 153 passengers and six crew. “There was a loud bang, and a significant vibration,” said passenger Scott Wolff. “Everyone in the plane then started to panic.” Wyatt McCurry, watching from the ground, said, “My stomach dropped.”
The plane returned safely. United confirmed a “possible wildlife strike.” The FAA is investigating the rare incident.
