Trump Administration Begins Removing Artifacts From National Museum Of African American History, Including Iconic Woolworth’s Counter
Donald Trump’s second term isn’t wasting any time removing key pieces of Black history.
Journalist April Ryan reports that the Trump administration has begun pulling exhibits from the National Museum of African American History and Culture in D.C., including the original Woolworth’s lunch counter from the 1960 Greensboro sit-in.
Ryan also obtained a letter from civil rights leader Rev. Dr. Amos Brown notifying him that two artifacts he loaned to the museum, his personal Bible and a rare copy of History of the Negro Race in America, are being returned.

The move is reportedly led by Trump ally Lindsey Halligan, who’s been tasked with eliminating what she calls “improper ideology” from Smithsonian museums.
Halligan previously said,
“I would say that improper ideology would be weaponizing history. We don’t need to overemphasize the negative to teach people that certain aspects of our nation’s history may have been bad.”
What’s next on the chopping block remains to be seen.
