‘Undisputed’ Host Skip Bayless Approached Him About Teaming Up For A Show

Gilbert recently revealed that he met up with Skip for lunch, where the former ESPN host asked if he’d be interested in doing a show together.

While Gilbert says Skip pitched him a debate-style show, he shared his reservations, admitting he feels that style of TV isn’t really what people want to see anymore. Still, it’s understandable why Skip would float the idea, given that the two often take shots at each other on their respective shows when discussing the biggest stories in sports.
Skip’s decades-long career in sports media has included multiple debate-style hits, including ESPN2’s First Take with Stephen A. Smith — which Skip left in June 2016 — and Undisputed with Shannon Sharpe on Fox Sports 1, which debuted in 2016 and wrapped its final season in 2024, a year after Shannon’s departure.
Meanwhile, Gilbert has been carving out his own lane in the sports and media world. He launched his culture commentary podcast No Chill with Gilbert Arenas in 2021, followed by his sports news podcast Gil’s Arena in 2023.
