Bill Cosby Forced To Sell $7 Million N.Y. Townhome After Defaulting On Mortgage & Facing $17.5 Million Debt

Bill Cosby is selling his $6.99 million Upper East Side NYC townhouse after defaulting on a mortgage, just months after being sued for not making payments since June 2024.

The 87-year-old comedian and his wife, Camille Cosby, 80, allegedly owe $17.5 million, though the foreclosure is filed against their LLC, not Bill Cosby personally.

Purchased for $1.2 million in 1980, the six-bedroom, six-bath home is nestled in Lenox Hill’s Treadwell Farm Historic District and blends “historic charm” with “modern amenities.” Realtor.com calls it an “architectural gem” with red oak, mosaic hardwood, and marble tile.

Sunlight floods the master bedroom through floor-to-ceiling windows. Though the retro kitchen remains, stainless steel appliances modernize the space.

The property offers “full independence” with no shared walls or lobbies and includes exclusive outdoor areas, a private backyard, spiral staircase, and “only the 10th residential elevator to be installed in New York City,” according to the listing.
