Smokey Robinson Sued For $50 Million By Former Housekeepers, Accused Of Sexual Battery, False Imprisonment & More
Smokey Robinson has been hit with some serious allegations from his former employees.
The four women, identified as Jane Doe 1-4 in the lawsuit, are suing the 85-year-old singer for $50 million over claims he abused them on several occasions between 2007 and April 2024. The plaintiffs worked as housekeepers at the Motown legend’s LA home. The women say they were subjected to sexual battery, assault, false imprisonment, and gender violence.

Smokey’s wife, Frances, is also named in the lawsuit. According to the alleged victims, Smokey would touch their “entire bodies, including their vaginas, breasts, legs, abdomen, lips, and face” without consent. His wife was allegedly aware of his actions, but did nothing to intervene. The suit continues, claiming his wife “perpetuated a hostile work environment by regularly screaming at them separately in a hostile manner, using ethnically pejorative words and language.”

Unfortunately, the allegations don’t end there. The former employees claim Smokey did not pay them minimum wage, overtime, or a holiday pay rate. They also note that they were not given rest or lunch breaks during shifts.
Court documents note they didn’t report Smokey to authorities over fear of losing their livelihoods and what that could mean for their immigration status. As the case moves forward, the court will determine the validity of the claims and what consequences, if any, Smokey Robinson and his wife may face.
