Husband Of ‘King Of The Hill’ Voice Actor Jonathan Joss Alleges Homophobic Motive In Fatal Shooting, Police Say There’s No Evidence Of Hate Crime
Jonathan Joss’ husband is speaking out following the actor’s tragic death.
In a Facebook post, Tristan Kern de Gonzales said the shooting happened while he and Joss were checking their mail at the site of their former home in Texas. He claimed the house had burned down following “over two years of threats from people in the area.”
“When we returned to the site to check our mail we discovered the skull of one of our dogs and its harness placed in clear view,” he wrote. “This caused both of us severe emotional distress. We began yelling and crying in response to the pain of what we saw. While we were doing this a man approached us. He started yelling violent, homophobic slurs at us. He then raised a gun from his lap and fired.”
De Gonzales added:
“Joss pushed me out of the way. He saved my life. He was m*rdered by someone who could not stand the sight of two men loving each other.”

He also claimed they faced “openly homophobic” harassment for years and had reported threats to law enforcement “multiple times,” but “nothing was done.”
As previously reported, Jonathan Joss was fatally shot on June 1 in San Antonio. Police confirmed that 56-year-old Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja was detained and booked for murder.
In a statement, the San Antonio Police Department said its investigation “has found no evidence whatsoever to indicate that Mr. Joss’s murder was related to his sexual orientation,” but added that they would pursue additional charges if new evidence emerges.
Joss was best known for voicing John Redcorn on King of the Hill.
