Father Fatally Shot While Leaving High School Basketball Game w/ Son
Heartbreaking news! ???? ?? Over the weekend, an Illinois father was shot and killed while leaving a high school basketball game with his son.
The Country Club Hills Police Department confirmed the incident in a press release shared on Facebook on Sunday, Nov. 10. The fatal shooting, which occurred on Saturday, Nov. 9, is being investigated as a homicide. The identity of the victim has not yet been released publicly.
In the press release, the CCHPD stated that “multiple armed offenders” were “laying in wait at the back of the high school parking lot” in a black Infiniti Q50 during the basketball tournament. As the father and his juvenile son exited the game, the offenders moved to “block the victim’s path to his vehicle” before drawing their weapons and opening fire, police said.
Officers responded at approximately 1:09 p.m., but the suspects had already fled. The father was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries. Thankfully, his son was not physically harmed during the incident.
