Tennis Star Coco Gauff Says She Felt Mentally ‘Overwhelmed’ After French Open Win, Admits She Wasn’t Ready For Wimbledon
Coco Gauff is keeping it real after a tough first-round loss at Wimbledon.
The tennis star was eliminated Tuesday (July 1) after losing to Ukrainian player Dayana Yastremska. Following the match, Gauff opened up about the mental toll of winning the French Open weeks earlier and struggling to find her rhythm on the court again.

She said:
“I feel like mentally I was a little bit overwhelmed with everything that came afterwards. So, I didn’t feel like I had enough time to celebrate and also get back into it.”
Gauff continued:
“Dayana started off playing strong. I couldn’t find my footing out there today.”
She finished the match with 29 unforced errors, including nine double-faults, and lost 7-6, 6-1.
