Ritz Recalls Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches Nationwide After Packaging Mix-Up Poses Life-Threatening Risk To People w/ Peanut Allergies
Parent company Mondel?z Global LLC has recalled select Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches after discovering that some packages were mislabeled as “cheese.”
The recall affects four carton sizes distributed nationwide and poses a serious risk for individuals with peanut allergies.
“The U.S. Food and Drug Administration noted that people with an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts could be at risk of ‘serious or life-threatening allergic reactions by consuming this product.’”
Though the outer cartons correctly warn of peanut content, the mislabeled inner packs might mislead consumers. The issue reportedly stems from defective packaging film due to a supplier mistake.
Affected products include specific 8-, 20-, and 40-pack cartons with “Best When Used By” dates ranging from November 1–9, 2025, and January 2–22, 2026.
No illnesses have been reported, but consumers are urged to discard the items. Other Ritz and Mondel?z products are not impacted.
