Sean Kingston’s Mother Gets 5 Years In $1 Million Luxury Scam + Claims She Was Trying To Keep Her Son ‘Afloat’ In The Music Industry
Sean Kingston’s mother, Janice Turner, has been sentenced to five years in federal prison and three years of probation for her role in a wire fraud scheme involving over $1 million in stolen luxury goods.
In court, the 62-year-old grew emotional and told the judge, “I’m sorry. My intention was to keep my son afloat in this difficult industry.”
She claimed she was trying to protect Kingston from being exploited in the music world, but the court remained unconvinced.
Turner’s attorneys had requested a 30-month sentence, citing her health issues and minimal criminal record. They also submitted letters describing her as a community “pillar” and asked for her to serve time near Miami so her family could visit.
According to court documents, Turner and Kingston used fake wire transfers and bogus payment confirmations to obtain luxury cars, jewelry, and high-end merchandise without paying. A restitution hearing is scheduled for October to determine how much the victims may recover. Until then, Turner is preparing to report to prison.
