Manhunt Ends After Suspect Accused Of Killing 4 & Kidnapping A Baby In ‘Targeted’ Tennessee Attack Is Captured

A multi-day manhunt has come to an end after authorities captured 28-year-old Austin Robert Drummond, who was wanted in connection with the brutal murders of four family members in Tennessee.

According to police, Drummond was taken into custody Tuesday morning (Aug. 6) by U.S. Marshals after he was spotted armed with a rifle and wearing camouflage. A shelter-in-place order was issued after surveillance footage showed him attempting to enter a building while carrying a gun.
________

Drummond is now facing four counts of first-degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, and weapons charges following the July 29 deaths of Matthew Wilson, 21; Adrianna Williams, 20; Cortney Rose, 38; and Braydon Williams, 15. Their bodies were discovered in a wooded area near Tiptonville, about two hours north of Memphis.

Officials confirmed the victims were relatives of an infant who was later found abandoned in a stranger’s front yard, roughly 40 miles away. Drummond had reportedly flagged someone down for help after leaving the child, which Tennessee officials described as “a sign of compassion.”
________

Investigators believe the killings were targeted. While a motive hasn’t been publicly disclosed, a family member reportedly revealed Drummond had once dated a relative of the victims and was considered close to the family.

Drummond, a convicted felon with a past aggravated robbery charge, had been out on bond for attempted murder at the time of the killings. Three alleged associates, Tanaka Brown, Giovontie Thomas, and Dearrah Sanders, have also been arrested and charged with assisting him after the murders.
