Trump Cancels Kamala Harris’ Secret Service Detail Weeks Before Her Book Tour
Donald Trump has revoked Kamala Harris’ extended Secret Service protection, just weeks before the release of her new memoir.
According to a letter dated Thursday (Aug. 28), Trump wrote, “You are hereby authorized to discontinue any security-related procedures previously authorized by Executive Memorandum, beyond those required by law, for the following individual, effective September 1, 2025: Former Vice President Kamala D. Harris.”
By law, former vice presidents only receive six months of protection after leaving office. Harris’ coverage was set to end in July, but President Joe Biden signed a directive before leaving office that extended her security for another year. That is the order Trump canceled.
The change comes as Harris prepares to embark on a multi-city tour for her upcoming book 107 Days.
