9-1-1 Star Rockmond Dunbar Heads To Trial Against Disney + Claims Firing Over COVID Vaccine Violated His Religious Beliefs
Rockmond Dunbar is ready to face Disney in court over his firing from the hit series “9-1-1.”
The actor’s trial begins Tuesday as he argues that his dismissal violated his religious rights after he refused to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
Dunbar claims membership in the Congregation of Universal Wisdom, a church that teaches it is sinful to inject chemicals that “defy natural law.” Disney’s 20th Television contends his exemption request was fabricated, pointing to his past steroid and testosterone injections as evidence his beliefs were not sincere.
Judge Dolly Gee ruled that Dunbar’s medical records could be used, calling his failure to disclose them “egregious.” Dunbar maintains his stance came after he “spoke to God,” saying, “I believe God told everybody…to not get it.” The case will hinge on whether a jury decides his beliefs are genuine under the Civil Rights Act’s religious accommodation protections.
