Tyler, The Creator Faces Backlash & Allegedly Deletes Old Tweets As Anti-Black & Controversial Posts Resurface
#TylerTheCreator is learning that your digital footprint is forever.
The rapper recently liked an X post that said his fanbase “hates Black music despite Tyler himself having a very deep love and appreciation for it.” However, many argued that Tyler is responsible for the way his fans act, pulling up his old posts on X that have been labeled anti-Black and problematic. Amid the backlash, Tyler allegedly removed some of the resurfaced posts, including one where he said he didn’t like the “Black guy from Victorious,” who was played by Grammy winner Leon Thomas. In another old post that is still up, Tyler touched on the tragic case of #TrayvonMartin and said, “If This Zimmerman Sht Doesn’t Go Right I Hope Blacks Don’t Riot Or Go On To Prove To The Others That They Are Animals And Sht F*ck That.” He also posted more than once about his hatred for fellow music artist #Wale.
Several have called Tyler out for his posts, saying that changing his persona and deleting old tweets isn’t enough; he needs to address his past behavior and comments directly.
Should Tyler be held accountable for those old posts, or should people let the past stay in the past?
