LeBron James Left Off NBA All-Star Starters for First Time in 21 Years!
The NBA revealed its starters for next month’s All-Star Game on Monday — and for the first time in more than two decades, LeBron James’ name was missing from the list. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar, who has been selected to every All-Star Game since 2005, will not start this year, marking the end of a historic 21-year streak.
In the Western Conference, Lakers teammate Luka Don?i? led fan voting and earned a starting nod alongside Nikola Joki?, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Victor Wembanyama, and Stephen Curry. James, however, was never close to cracking the starting five, a stunning development for one of the league’s most decorated players.
James’ absence comes after a rocky start to the season. The four-time NBA champion missed the first 14 games due to sciatica and struggled to find his rhythm upon returning, including seeing his remarkable streak of 1,297 consecutive games with double-digit scoring come to an end.
Meanwhile, Wembanyama secured his first All-Star start after earning his first selection last season. The Spurs phenom is averaging 24.5 points, 10.9 rebounds, and a league-leading 2.6 blocks per game, solidifying his rapid rise as one of the NBA’s brightest stars.
In the Eastern Conference, Giannis Antetokounmpo topped the voting and will be joined by Jalen Brunson, Tyrese Maxey, Cade Cunningham, and Jaylen Brown. Cunningham is making his first All-Star start as the face of a Pistons team on pace for 60 wins, while Maxey and Brunson continue to anchor their teams with career-best performances.
While LeBron’s All-Star appearance may not be in jeopardy, his absence from the starting lineup signals a rare shift in the league’s power structure — one that underscores just how much the NBA’s next generation has officially arrived.
Is this a true snub — or the natural changing of the guard in the NBA?
