Lamar Odom Checks Into Rehab After DUI Arrest
Former NBA champion Lamar Odom has checked into rehab following his recent DUI arrest, taking what his team describes as a proactive step toward protecting his health and sobriety.
Odom was arrested earlier this month in Las Vegas after police stopped him for speeding and an improper lane change. He was subsequently booked on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to reports.
Following the arrest, Odom voluntarily entered a 30-day treatment program, with his manager confirming the decision was not court-ordered but made on his own. Those close to the former Lakers star say he wanted to address underlying triggers and refocus on his wellbeing.
“Lamar has been dealing with a lot,” his team shared, adding that he chose treatment as a preventative measure rather than waiting for things to escalate.
The rehab stint comes years after Odom’s highly publicized struggles with substance abuse, including his near-fatal overdose in 2015, which marked a turning point in his life and recovery journey.
While the road hasn’t been linear, sources say Odom remains committed to doing the work, taking accountability, and prioritizing long-term health as he continues navigating life after basketball.
