Ray J’s Manager Says ‘Artists Gotta Do Their Job’ After Singer Seemingly Performs w/ Blood
Running From His Eyes
Ray J’s manager is defending the singer’s decision to hit the stage despite alarming health concerns.
Melinda Santiago addressed backlash after Ray J performed on February 14 while appearing visibly unwell, telling PEOPLE, “We all know that Ray J has been under the weather, but all my artists that work with me gotta do their job whether they are bleeding or not.”
The 45-year-old entertainer, born William Raymond Norwood Jr., sparked concern after videos showed him wearing sunglasses with what appeared to be blood dripping from his eyes and a heart monitor taped to his chest during a Valentine’s Day concert. In one clip, he removed his shirt, revealing the device before stepping into the crowd.
Earlier this year, he revealed, “My heart’s only beating like 25 percent,” and later claimed, “2027 is definitely a wrap for me,” alleging long-term substance abuse had severely damaged his heart.
He was hospitalized in January with severe pneumonia and heart pain.
Should Ray J take a break?
