Lil Durk’s Lyrics From “Who Want Smoke’ & ‘Ahhh Ha’ Cleared For Jury In Federal M*rder-For-Hire Trial
As his federal m*rder-for-hire trial approaches, some of Lil Durk’s most popular lyrics are set to take center stage in court.
A judge has ruled that prosecutors can present select lyrics to the jury as they attempt to prove motive in the case against the Chicago rapper, born Durk Banks. He and several members of his Only the Family (OTF) collective are accused of orchestrating a 2022 sh**ting targeting rival Quando Rondo.
Rondo was unharmed, but his cousin Lul Pab was k*lled. Durk has denied involvement.
Jurors will hear lines from “Who Want Smoke?,” where Durk raps, “They be on my page like ‘Slide for Von’, I know they trollin’ me … Got it back in blood, y’all just don’t know that’s how it ’posed to be.”
They’ll also hear lyrics from “Ahhh Ha,” including: “Don’t respond to s**t with Von/ I’m like, ‘f**k it, you trippin’, go get your g*n/They droppin’ locations, I’m getting’ it done/ F**k tweetin’, we slidin’, the feds are comin’.”
The judge said the lyrics are relevant to showing motive tied to the 2020 d*ath of King Von, a close friend of Durk’s.
The trial is set to begin April 21 in Los Angeles.
Do you think lyrics should be used in court?
