Doechii Says Young Female Artists Are Being “Torn Apart” In the Media
Doechii is urging the public to show more compassion toward young women in music, sharing a heartfelt message about the pressure many female rappers and singers face while building their careers.
In a candid Threads post, the Grammy-winning rapper said many of today’s female artists are still “barely halfway into their 20s,” stressing that they are simply young women doing their best while navigating fame, criticism, and an unforgiving media cycle.
She went on to remind followers that these artists are more than headlines and hot takes, calling them “people’s daughters, sisters, best friends” who are still figuring life out in real time. Doechii emphasized the long hours they pour into rehearsals and studio sessions in hopes of creating something meaningful for both themselves and their fans.
The Florida native also highlighted how emotionally exposed the creative process can be, describing music as “a very vulnerable craft.” Her message appeared aimed at critics quick to pile on female performers over missteps, performances, or public growing pains.
Closing out the post with a direct plea, Doechii asked audiences and the media alike to “have grace” and lead with kindness, underscoring that many of these women are simply trying to evolve under a spotlight that rarely allows room for mistakes.
