Perez Hilton is receiving medical care after a disturbing livestream prompted multiple calls to authorities and a response from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.

According to officials, deputies were dispatched Tuesday after concerned viewers reported that the 48-year-old media personality appeared to be harming himself during a social media livestream. When authorities arrived at his Miami-area residence, they confirmed he was alone inside and initially focused on de-escalating the situation while continuing to monitor him from a safe distance.

Hours later, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the individual believed to be Perez Hilton had been safely recovered and transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital, where he is receiving medical attention. The department also said its Crisis Response Unit and licensed mental health professionals were on scene providing support and resources to his family.

Hilton, whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., has been open about recent health struggles. Earlier this year, he revealed he spent 21 days hospitalized after developing sepsis, describing the experience as life-changing and saying he was eager to return home to his three children.
