Wendy Williams’ life story may soon be heading back to the small screen.

According to a new report from The U.S. Sun, both Peacock and Netflix are reportedly developing separate documentary projects centered on the former daytime talk show host. Sources told the outlet that the two streaming platforms are each working on their own productions and are hoping to be the first to release their version of Wendy’s story.

One source claimed Peacock’s project is being spearheaded by Suzanne Bass, Wendy’s longtime executive producer on The Wendy Williams Show. The insider alleged that Bass initially planned to involve Wendy in the documentary, but claimed the television personality is now too ill to participate. However, another source familiar with the project disputed that account, telling the outlet Wendy was never expected to appear in the documentary. Neither Peacock nor Netflix commented on the report.

The reported projects come as Wendy remains under a court-appointed guardianship overseen by Sabrina Morrissey. In recent years, Wendy has publicly fought to regain control over her life and finances while maintaining that she is capable of making her own decisions.

News of the alleged documentaries also follows the controversy surrounding Lifetime’s 2024 docuseries Where Is Wendy Williams? The project sparked widespread backlash after it showed intimate moments from Wendy’s health struggles. Morrissey later filed a lawsuit in an attempt to hold those involved accountable, though the case was reportedly dismissed last month.

As of now, neither streaming platform has officially announced a release date or confirmed that either documentary is moving forward.
