Halle Berry Calls Zendaya Her “Little Sweetheart” & Shares Her Dream Collab w/ The Actress: ‘I Would Love To Play Her Mother’

Halle Berry is ready to take her longtime admiration for Zendaya from real life to the big screen. The Oscar-winning actress opened up about her friendship with Zendaya while attending Create & Cultivate’s On Her Own Terms event in Los Angeles on September 20, revealing the two stars actually keep in contact.

“I do speak to her, and I have to say she is the sweetest and my little sweetheart,” Berry told People. “I would love to find something to do with her someday.”

Berry’s comments came shortly after Zendaya honored her at the 2026 Emmy Awards. The 30-year-old stepped out in a custom silver-sequined Prada look paired with a short pixie hairstyle reminiscent of Berry’s signature early-2000s style. Stylist Law Roach later confirmed Berry helped inspire the moment.

The tribute was especially meaningful because of their personal relationship.

“I love everything she’s doing,” Berry said. “I think she is changing the game in so many ways for her generation. And I couldn’t be more proud of someone or to know someone honored that she would pay homage to me that way. That was really sweet.”

Berry has previously revealed exactly how she would like to work with the “Euphoria” star.

“There is an actress that I love with every fiber of my being. I love her,” Berry said on “The Drew Barrymore Show.” “I would love to play her mother. Zendaya.”

The actresses have known each other publicly for years, including appearing together at the 2017 Chrysalis Butterfly Ball. Berry’s interest in playing Zendaya’s mother would unite two generations of history-making Black actresses onscreen.
