Washington D.C. Man Accused Of K*lling 2-Month-Old Twin Out Of Jealousy, Then Blaming His Nonverbal Autistic Son

A Washington, D.C., man is accused of b*ating his 2-month-old stepdaughter to d*ath before allegedly trying to pin the infant’s m*rder on his nonverbal autistic son.

Demetrius Beatty has been charged with first-degree felony m*rder and first-degree cruelty to children in connection with the August 16 d*ath of Khamyah Honesty, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.

Prosecutors allege jealousy may have been a motive because Beatty was upset that another man was the biological father of Khamyah and her twin sister. Court filings reportedly state Beatty was “crushed” after learning the children’s mother was pregnant with the twins.

Police responded to Beatty’s home after he called 911 while the children’s mother was at the grocery store. Officers found Khamyah suffering from “blunt force injuries.” She was later pronounced d*ad, and an autopsy determined her death was a h*micide.

According to court documents, Beatty told authorities his 7-year-old autistic son “got to the 2-month-old daughter and was fighting her and he damaged her pretty good.”

Investigators reportedly determined the infant’s head injuries were inconsistent with that explanation.

Court filings also allege Beatty made a disturbing statement about a week earlier, telling Khamyah’s mother that if she left the twins with him, they were “going to be d*ad.”

Beatty’s defense attorney has disputed prosecutors’ allegations, arguing, “Someone who att*cks and k*lls an infant child does not immediately call 9-1-1.”

Beatty was ordered held without bond and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on September 28.

Authorities removed the other children from the home after Khamyah’s d*ath. Court records reportedly showed some of them had additional injuries or medical concerns.
