Ice Cube Responds To Criticism Over Not Using His Millions’ To Sign LA. Rappers, Says It’d Be
‘Unfair’ Because He Can’t Give Them The Attention They Need

One thing about #IceCube: he’s never been afraid to address his critics.

The rap legend had no issue defending himself after his son O’Shea Jackson Jr. weighed in on a debate sparked by media personality Dejon Paul asking rapper Ralfy The Plug whether the late #DrakeoTheRuler could outsell rising L.A. rapper #AZChike today. After O’Shea questioned why the conversation had to tear Chike down, Dejon claimed that wasn’t his intention before turning the conversation toward Cube, asking why the hip-hop vet hasn’t used his “multi-millions and resources” to sign or develop new L.A. rappers.

Cube wasted no time explaining that despite his success, he’s far from sitting around with nothing to do. Pointing to his work as an independent artist, actor, writer, director, producer and #BIG3 co-founder and CEO, Cube said, “It’s unfair for any rapper to be signed to me and expect the kind of attention they need to be successful.”

He also pushed back against the idea that others should dictate how he uses his resources, adding, “Mind your own business,” before telling Dejon to “Stop trying to cause problems in L.A. and keep it pushing.”
