Former “Jon & Kate Plus 8” star #CollinGosselin is opening up about the alleged abu$e he endured at the hands of his mother, #KateGosselin, while growing up in the spotlight.

During an interview with ABC News ahead of his memoir, “In the Shadow of Eight,” Collin claimed his childhood was nothing like what viewers saw on TV. “Simply put, my whole life that I lived was a lie,” he said. “All the things you see on TV, lies.” Following his parents’ 2009 divorce, Collin alleged Kate isolated him from his father, forced him to sleep in a locked basement room, and once “dragged” him by his earlobe, leaving it swollen. After reporting the incident to a guidance counselor, he recalled, “And my mom was not very happy that I spoke about that.”

Collin also claimed Kate once zip-tied his hands and feet and locked him in the basement after he tried running away. Days before his 12th birthday, she allegedly placed him in an institution, where he was medicated and had limited family contact. After a year, he secretly wrote his father, #JonGosselin, pleading, “I’m counting on you to get me out of here. Daddy, I love you. Save me.” Jon eventually secured his release, and Collin moved in with him and his sister Hannah.

In his memoir, out Oct. 13, Collin also reveals that a 2023 psychological evaluation found no mental health diagnoses at the time, despite his mother’s previous claims about his behavioral struggles. Kate denied the abuse allegations in 2016, calling them “unfounded.” Now in college, Collin hopes to reconnect with his six estranged siblings, telling them, “No matter what’s happened or what was said, no matter how things look from the outside, I love you, I always have and always will.”
