Actor Colman Domingo Questions Motives Behind “Euphoria” Toxic Set Allegations: ‘People Aren’t Telling The Truth’

Colman Domingo is pushing back on years of reports claiming the environment behind HBO’s “Euphoria” was difficult, saying his own experience has been overwhelmingly positive.

Asked by Vanity Fair whether he helped keep the cast and crew together amid alleged tensions, Domingo admitted, “There could be some truth to that.”

The 56-year-old described himself as “very pragmatic,” adding, “I feel like I can talk to producers, I can talk to directors, actors and find out what people need and get away from the noise of things. I’m not interested in the noise of it; I’m interested in the creative solutions.”

Still, Domingo openly questioned some accounts of trouble on creator Sam Levinson’s set.

“It’s so funny to me, because I feel like my whole experience on ‘Euphoria’ has been extraordinarily positive and collaborative,” he said. “So when I hear that there was trouble, to be honest, I feel like a lot of people aren’t telling the truth.”

He continued, “Of course, we all have our information because we talk to our colleagues and everything. And I don’t think people have always been honest about their experience. I think that sometimes people will use it for their own worth in some way.”

Complaints surrounding “Euphoria” have followed the series for years, with reports citing lengthy filming days, production delays and alleged behind-the-scenes tensions. Season 3 was repeatedly pushed back amid scheduling challenges, the 2023 Hollywood strikes and Levinson’s work on “The Idol.”

Domingo acknowledged production could be demanding but said, “I’ve done harder work on Fear the Walking Dead,” recalling “16-hour days in the mud and filth.”

He also defended Levinson, calling him “one of the most beautiful creatives” and “one of the kindest souls that anyone would ever meet.”
