Jay-Z Reportedly Picks Himself To Headline 2027 Super Bowl Halftime Show

Jay-Z may be taking the Super Bowl stage himself after spending years helping decide who gets the coveted halftime performance.

According to a new report from Puck, the 56-year-old rapper and billionaire businessman has reportedly selected himself to headline the 2027 Super Bowl LXI halftime show. Multiple sources reportedly confirmed the decision, revealing that Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus were also among the artists considered for the highly anticipated performance.

The reported decision is particularly interesting because Jay-Z’s entertainment company, Roc Nation, has played a major role in selecting and producing Super Bowl halftime performances since partnering with the NFL in 2019. The agreement, reportedly worth $5 million annually, was renewed in 2024 for another five years. Under the partnership, artists including Rihanna, Usher, Kendrick Lamar and Bad Bunny have taken the halftime stage.

Interestingly, Jay-Z previously addressed why he hadn’t chosen himself to perform. During a 2024 interview with Entertainment Tonight, he explained,

“I thought it would be selfish to pick myself too early.”

He added, “Maybe one year.”

The reported selection comes as Jay-Z celebrates major milestones in his music career, including the 30th anniversary of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt, and the 25th anniversary of The Blueprint. The hip-hop mogul has also enjoyed a successful run of stadium performances, reportedly grossing more than $42 million from three sold-out Yankee Stadium concerts earlier this year.

According to Puck, an official announcement could come as early as this weekend, when Jay-Z is scheduled to perform at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. The venue will also host Super Bowl LXI on February 14, 2027.
