[Interview] “The Braxton Family Values'” Dr. Sherry Blake Dishes On New Book, Working With the Braxton’s + More

“Well, my book is about helping the married woman manage all of life’s responsibilities while managing their marriage without losing who they are in the process. So having said that, I think everybody could benefit from my book.”
“I’ve known the Braxton’s for over 10 years. I was asked to make a cameo on an episode and one episode turned into more. With me appearing on the show, the Braxton’s allowed the world to see that it ok to seek help when dealing with difficult issues.”
“The Braxtons set an example for other African American families that are dealing with family problems. They proved that is better to release and address issues rather than hold it in. I offer an outlet to do so, in a non-threatening environment, often times incorporating humor to lighten the intensity of the situation.”
“I think everybody showed growth in their own right. However, Tracey showed the most growth in regards to dealing with her anger”
“I think she had to come to some realizations on her own and although I’m sure it was a tough decision, it was HER decision.”
“In one episode, Andre’ told Towanda that he contacted me for an appointment for them to meet with me together, he never contacted me. I think Towanda must figure out what she wants out of this situation and do it on her own terms when she is ready.”
“Yes. I would like to write a book that addresses that topic. Sometime single women have a long list of high expectations and requirements but I would like to carefully address the subject and suggest to shorten the list but don’t compromise your standards.”
