(Washington, DC) Photos::: BET Honors

Why is Jamie holding her dress and frowning like that?

It is almost 4 a.m. and instead of recapping the 4th Annual BET Honors (that took place at the Warner Theater Saturday) in the a.m., I decided to provide a recap while I’m half sleep and delirious. Hosted by Gabrielle Union (who looked fab, wore 5 different dresses and s/o her man, Dwanye Wade) the 2011 honorees were: Legendary actress, Cicely Tyson (Theatrical Arts); Academy Award-winning actor/musician/comedian, Jamie Foxx (Entertainer); supermodel/entrepreneur, Iman (Service); publishing mogul, Linda Johnson Rice (Media); world-renowned musician/composer, Herbie Hancock (Musical Arts); and accomplished historian/educator, Lonnie G. Bunch (Education).

Cicely Tyson
The awards show was a beautiful experience, HOWEVER there was some “behind-the-scenes’ drama that took place.

Teddy Riley, of the R&B sensational group, Guy, was a complete “no call, no show.” Who cares? Well, yeah, I agree, but apparently he displayed some diva antics. The group was scheduled to perform a surprise tribute to Jamie Foxx, but Teddy wasn’t either feeling the show, logistics or the performance bc he gave producers the middle finger and canceled @ the last minute. The group performed w/out him.

Keyshia Cole and Marsha Ambrosius did a heart-felt tribute to the late, Teena Marie. While Marsha sounded and looked fab (although some say she’s looking too thin these), Keyshia performance was a bit mediocre.

No drama @ the after parties, but lots of celebs and folks partied throughout the city. First stop, DC’s popular club Park @ 14th. In an exclusive VIP Room (which I call the “Poom-Poom” room), I spotted Jamie Foxx (and his pretty girlfriend and/or date), Cedric the Entertainer, Nicole Parker and Boris Kodjoe. Nicole and Boris both looked stunning–they were very friendly (allowed lots of fans to take photos with them) and partied throughout the night w/ a warm smile (these two are obviously in love). Cedric was really fun too and has a mean two-step. No comment on anyone else.

Debra Lee
Next stop–another club, Cities. This was my first time attending this club. Apparently, it was the official after party for the awards show. Lots of folks in their ball gowns, two-stepping w/ a slight buzz. I arrived somewhat late, but spotted Debra Lee (COO of BET Holdings), A.J. Calloway (currently on Extra, formerly of 106 & Park) and Jamie Foster Brown (of Sister to Sister magazine). No drama, however Debra Lee, was dancing her s$$ off. This woman has a mean two-step. Also, coming in close second, was Jamie Foster Brown, two-stepping her heart out.

Iman

Anika Rose

Third and final stop, Stadium. More on that, w/ more photos later!
