Jay-Z’s “Run this Town” Scores a Sports Emmy
Jay-Z’s 2009 hit song, “Run This Town” won a ‘Sports Emmy’ for Outstanding Music Composition/ Direction/ Lyrics because it was used for the Super Bowl XLIV and other sporting events. The song, which features Rihanna and Kanye West, was produced by No I.D. and won two Grammy’s, along w/ a People’s Choice Award. It was also Jigga’s first number one single in the U.K. as lead artist. U2 also won a ‘Sports Emmy’ for their work with Grammy award-winning Soweto Gospel Choir. The two groups (U2 and Soweto) did a series of spots that were used in ESPN’s month-long coverage of the 2010 World Cup. Sweet!
