Amy Winehouse Foundation To Help Substance Abusers

The death of superstar Amy Winehouse came as sudden, tragic news to many on Saturday July 23rd. But her father, Mitch Winehouse, has plans to turn the loss of Amy into something positive. At the funeral, on Tuesday (July 26th), he announced that he was already in the process of creating what he will call the Amy Winehouse Foundation. Before her death, Amy was devoted to charitable giving, according to Huffington Post. She donated to charities such as Global Fund’s “Born HIV Free” campaign. Now Mitch Winehouse would like to create his own charity on his daughter’s behalf. He has teamed up with Keith Vaz, who is a British politician. Together, they plan to begin The Amy Winehouse Foundation, which will focus on support for victims suffering from substance abuse. He wants those who cannot afford expensive rehabilitation treatment to be able to use his foundation for help. Mitch would also like to somehow include benefiting horses and children, which Amy had a special love for. Dope!
