[Listen] Nicki Minaj Debuts New Music, “Star Ships”

Tuesday morning, after her controversial Grammy’s performance, Nicki Minaj called into Ryan Seacrest to premier her new song, Starships and discuss her upcoming project.
On recording her new album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded:
“I’ve never had this much fun recording music in my life. My first album I was very guarded. I felt like I was making music to please everyone else. I had to be politically correct, but this album I am just creating music, and it there’s such a big difference. Literally in the studio we were cracking up laughing, having fun, and enjoying ourselves. The music itself your going to get every side that I’ve ever shown and then a little bit extra. I’ve tried to make it very, very balanced, because I don’t ever want to be boxed in, and that’s always what drives me. So I made a very diverse album.”
On her new song, “Starships”:
“There was so much love surrounding the making of the song, because Red One is just so sweet to work with. He just sent me that one day and he said, ‘Hey, I got something for you!’ I was like ‘You got to be kidding me, right?’ I went to the studio and started writing…scratch that…I didn’t even write the first verse! That was just me mumbling and just saying the first thing that came to my head, and we recorded it, because I just felt…like let’s go to the beach…let’s go get away…It was just so good. It feels good!”
And here’s her new song, “Star Ships”:

“Let’s go to the beach, Let’s go get away.
They say what their gonna say.
Have a drinks clink, found a Bud-light
It’s hard to come by.
The Patron on. Let’s go get it on. Yes, I’m in the zone
Is it two, three? Leave a good tip.
I’m going to blow all my money, and I don’t give two.
I’m on the floor. I love to dance. Don’t give me more. Until I can’t stand.
Get on the floor. Like it’s your last chance. If you want more then here I am.”
So, what do we think of the new song?

I find it very ironic that she thought she USED to make music to please everyone else. If this song isn’t the product of “the man” demanding a radio friendly, saccharine, mindless insta-hit, I don’t know what is.
I see she going for the money…she gonna be all over MTV for this one..good strategy…
She sucks!
