Jennifer Hudson Wants to Play Aretha Franklin, But Can She Pull It Off?

Jennifer Kate Hudson has set her eyes on the big screen–AGAIN. Rumor has it that the Academy Award winning singer wants to play the legendary Aretha Franklin. A few months ago, we learned that a film about the life of ‘The Queen of Soul’ was in the works. In interviews, Aretha mentioned who she’d prefer to play her in the movie–Halle Berry. And while we doubt Halle can pull such a role off (admittedly, she can’t sing), J.Hud has hinted that she’d like to take on the role. During her performance at the 125th anniversary for Hearst, while singing some Aretha medleys, she told the crowd she wanted to play the role of Aretha. A Page Six spy reports:
“She introduced the [Franklin] song ‘Oh Me Oh My’ and said it was her plan to portray Aretha someday. Jennifer then asked the audience, ‘Is anyone listening?’ to imply someone in the crowd should give her that role.”
Do you think J.Hud could pull of playing Aretha? If not, who would be a better fit?

She has the voice . . . I’m confuse . . why does Aretha want Halle to play her . . this makes me laugh.
I agree… furthermore I don’t think Halle’s that good of an actress anyway. I think people get so caught up on her looks.
