Confirmed: ‘The Best Man’ Sequel to Be Released in 2013
Last October, we shared news that a sequel to the 1999 film, ‘The Best Man’ had received the green-light. One year later, and there’s more good news for fans. According to Black Film, the sequel will be released in 2013. Reportedly, Michael Lee will write and direct the film with Sean Daniel. Lee will write and direct the film with Sean Daniel a co-producer. The original film starred some elite African American actors like Taye Diggs, Regina Hall, Sanaa Lathan, Harold Perrineau, Melissa DeSousa, Monica Calhoun, Malcolm D. Lee, Nia Long, Morris Chestnut, and Terrence Howard. The all star cast, along with the story’s plot line, made good box office numbers–opening #1 at the box office, grossing $35 million. Lee explained:
“The Best Man was the right film at the right time. There were few films prior or since that film that spoke to the generation of African-Americans who I knew, lived, worked, loved and laughed with. I’ve been gratefully astounded over the years at the audience response to the film. People have often asked “Whatever happened to those characters? Did Jordan ever find a man? Does Murch stay with Candy? Do Lance and Mia live happily ever after?” I have never really taken the time to answer those questions. But they keep getting asked and in light of how it is in heavy rotation on cable TV it very well may be a sign that those questions need to be answered.”
No confirmation on if the original cast will join the sequel. The studio has set November 15, 2013 as a release date.

About time! I think a lot more of 80’s and 90’s should make sequels. Picking up where they left off… These movies out right now are crap! Waiting To Exhale was in the works but Whitney passed…I believe I heard they were re-writing it to make it a tribute to Savannah(Whitney).
