Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Will Make $13 Million More Than His Female Co-Star In “Jungle Cruise”
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Will Make $13 Million More than His Female Co-Star in “Jungle Cruise”
It doesn’t appear that actor/former WWE star Dwayne Johnson is stuck between a rock and a hard place. He’s rumored to have cashed out a pretty sweet payday from his upcoming role in Disney’s “Jungle Cruise.” His starring role as Frank is said be earning him $22 million, according to reports. Unfortunately, it’s at the expense of his female co-star, Emily Blunt. Despite both Emily and Dwayne sharing the lead roles in “Jungle Cruise,” Dwayne, 46, will be taking home a whopping $13 million more than Emily, 35. She’ll be earning a healthy, yet skim $9 million for her role as Lily.
The Rock has proven himself to be a box-office success, earning more than $120 million this year according to Forbes. He’s noted to be the second highest-paid actor in the world, the fifth highest-earning entertainer in the world, and most recently, a Hollywood Walk of Fame honoree.

However, Emily Blunt is a decorated actress. She’s the recipient of Critics’ Choice, BAFTA, and Golden Globe awards. Do these honors not make her worthy of earning more money?
“Black-Ish” actress Tracee Ellis Ross recently encountered the same issue. She had to fight to be paid equally against her co-star, Anthony Anderson during their contract renegotiation. She even threatened to appear less on the show if she wasn’t compensated appropriately. Read her statement below:

Disney’s “Jungle Cruise” premieres in theaters on July 24, 2020.
