Pop Smoke’s Alleged Killer Reportedly Released From Prison

New developments in the murder trial of Bashar Barakah Jackson, famously known as Pop Smoke, continue to unfold.

Pop Smoke’s murder deeply impacted the rap community and shocked many worldwide. As previously reported, the “Dior” artist was sadly killed during a home invasion and robbery on February 19, 2020. The conclusion of the trial is hoped to provide some closure, although recent reports suggest a delay in proceedings.

According to Rolling Stone, negotiations for Corey Walker, the sole adult defendant in the case, have stalled.

Walker’s attorney acknowledged the setback, stating,

“Negotiations fell through, but there’s still a possibility we’ll come to an agreement. If they don’t get resolved, we’ll go to trial.”

Jury selection for Walker’s trial is scheduled for August 6.

In a separate development, online reports indicate that another of Pop Smoke’s alleged killers, King Vermont, who was a minor at the time of the crime, has been released from juvenile detention following his 21st birthday.
