New “Single Ladies” Actress Talks :: Looking Like Stacy Dash & Acting with Lisa Raye

This week, it was announced that Denise Vasi, would be the newest leading lady on VH1?s scripted series, “Single Ladies”. From the looks of things, she will sorta, kinda replace Stacey Dash. Actress Denise Vasi, who has starred on ABC’s “All My Children” and USA’s “White Collar” will co-star in the second season of Single Ladies, along with LisaRaye McCoy and Charity Shea. Vasi will play the character, “Raquel,” a close friend of Keisha (LisaRaye McCoy). Vasi recently shared a bit more about her “Single Ladies” plans with Entertainment Weekly. Peep a few excerpts:
On her audition process for the role:
When you see a network take so much time and they’re really specific, you know that they care about that show and it makes you wanna get the job even more because you know they appreciate who their audience is and what they’re looking for…I got the great opportunity to screentest with Lisa[Raye McCoy] which was really fun.
On how she got involved with the show:
Obviously the show was a huge success and I had the conversation with my manager. “Let’s keep an eye out if anything comes up even guest-star wise for the show.” A casting sheet went out and I went in and read the first time and I was lucky enough to come back again and read a second time. Then I read in New York and I read one more time in LA. We had a few work sessions and then I screen-tested.
On her resemblance to the show’s former star, Stacey Dash:
We have similar features so that’s a great compliment, yeah.
