Nina Simone’s Daughter Gets Pissy w/ Mary J. Blige, “Do your research.”

Mary J. Blige, who is scheduled to play a biopic of the late Nina Simone, has pissed off Simone’s daughter. In past interviews, MJB has said that she can relate to Nina Simone’s addiction to drugs, as she too as she struggled with substance abuse. Apparently, Nina’s daughter doesn’t appreciate her mother being referred to in a not-so-positive light.

Nina’s daughter explained, “All I can say is, if you’re going to do a movie about a great public figure, I think it behooves you as a person who’s decided this is what they wanna do, to do their due research so that you can embody the character and bring the most that you can of their personality to the screen. After having read Mary J. Blige’s comments, that just kinda capped off (in my mind) that I don’t think that’s been done.” Ouch.
