You Gotta Pay to Play ::: 30 Second Ad on Oprah Finale Costs $1Million
The queen of daytime television, Oprah Winfrey, is saying good-bye to us in less than 30 days. And while she departs us, she is ensuring that she is caked-up in all areas. Ever wonder how much those commercials run for during her daily afternoon show? According to the Hollywood Reporter, for Oprah’s last episode, a price for a 30-second spot costs $1 million. Sounds astronomical? Not really. According to TV Week, NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” is the most-expensive program for advertisers. On an average, advertisers pay $415,000 for a 30-second ad. “Glee” which I’ve yet to see, averages $272,694 per 30-second ad in the fall, and $373,014 per 30-second ad in the spring, when it airs on Wednesdays after the “Idol” results show. Bottom line, on May 25th, when Oprah says farewell, a lot of us will be watching….and someone will be paying for it. Source
