Travis Porter Hits Baltimore…Talks: Not Being Real-Hip, Favorite Strip Clubs & College (Sorta)
Last week (April 26th), Travis Porter hit Baltimore and held an in-store event at urban fashion retailer DTLR. The group, who hail from Decatur, Georgia, consists of Lakeem “Ali” Mattox, Donquez “Quez” Woods and Harold “Strap” Duncan. (BTW, Ali and Quez are stepbrothers.) They recently signed with Jive Records and have become well known across the country for a few catchy ass club songs like, “Make It Rain” and “Bring It Back.”
On how things have changed since being signed with Jive Records: “We have more of an international hook, like 106 & Park…more money, but bigger opportunities. Oh, I bought a Maserati.”
On people saying Travis Porter is not ‘real hip-hop’: “Broke n*ggas make me sick.” That line was actually playing from one of their songs and seemed to fit in perfectly with how they felt about the question. “LOL, we don’t acknowledge that.”
On the cities that they’ve visited that have the finest women: “The whole DMV. DC, Maryland, and Virginia have the finest women.”
On plans to further their education and attend college: “Uh, maybe. We may do a reality show when we attend college. That’s (the reality show) in the works; so be on the look-out for that.”
On if they expected their single ‘Make it Rain’ to be such a huge hit: “Nah, but we knew it was a good song.”
On their favorite strip clubs: “We have a few of them – especially in Atlanta. Kamal’s 21 is our favorite.”
On what they’re listening to musically right now: “Real music. Big Sean, Wiz…we listening to everything from old to new.”

Idc what anyone says, they AREN’T real hip-hop. If you bump their songs just to listen to, kill yourself. And Wiz is NOT real music either. These kids are just…ehhh…idk. And that groupie is a mess. Thigh tattoo…Tyga said that means #SheWantsTheD*ck lol
In their defense, they make music people dance too, as they would say “for the strippers to dance too”. When Im in the club, I aint tryna dougie to no conscious shit. I aint tryna think deep in the club. But yes, the hoes came out for Traviii and she was SERIOUS.
Before you talk about Dougie, know it came from Dallas-Fort Worth, TX. And, you lame if you still Dougie. The originators stopped Dougie’n around 2009. Fuck Cat Daddy, too. Its a fake version of the Ricky Bobby dance from Arlington, TX. Fuck California
with y’all ugly ass fake Dallas Boogie.
Anyway Travis Porter is real hip hop. Just cuz they don’t talk about the everyday struggles of a Black man growin up in Atlanta doesn’t mean they not real hip hop.
Before you mention Dougie, recognize, it came from Dallas-Fort Worth, TX. Fuck the Cat Daddy, too. Ol’ fake ass Ricky Bobby, which came from Arlington, TX. If you still Dougie, you a lame, Dougie died in 2009. Fuck California with y’all fake ass ugly Dallas Boogie.
Anyway, Travis Porter IS real hip hop. Just cuz they don’t rap about the everyday struggles of young black men in Atlanta, GA don’t mean that they ain’t real hip hop.
I know a lot of underground rappers out Oak Cliff, TX that rap about happy shit cuz they don’t wanna be reminded of their lives and the conditions they live in
