Sad News :: Heart Transplant Teen, Jessica Harris, Befriended by Brandy dies at 17

Sad news…17-year-old Jessica Harris has lost her battle with her congenital heart defect. Harris and singer/actress Brandy had become friends, as they both were from the same home town, McComb, Mississippi. Brandy had helped Harris with a fundraising campaign to get a heart transplant, which she had received in February. On Thursday, Harris died in a New York City hospital. Brandy’s family released the following statement, “Jessica was and will always be an inspiration to our family. In the face of her illness, her courageous spirit and positive outlook gave us memories we will cherish for a lifetime. We were touched by the outpouring of generosity from the public when we set up a fund on her behalf to help cover her medical and travel expenses.” Read the full story here.
