Man Dies After Marathon Xbox Session

Chris Staniforth
Unfortunately, this sad story is true. 20-year-old Chris Staniforth died of pulmonary embolism. Pulmonary embolism can occur if someone sits in the same position for several hours; it normally affects passengers on long-haul flights. A coroner’s report shared that Staniforth had complained of a low heart rate before collapsing. According to his father, Staniforth would spend extended periods of time (up to 12 hours), playing on his Xbox. He explained, “He got sucked in playing Halo online against people from all over the world.” Staniforth’s family has developed a health awareness campaign to raise awareness about the health risks of playing online computer games.
