Are the Kardashian’s Selling Knock-Offs?

Kim Kardashian along with her sisters Khloe and Kourtney have teamed up to create and release their own clothing line. The line, titled Kardashian Kollection, just made its debut earlier this week in Sears. And within just a few days, the line is being accused of theft. Botkier, which is a small designer label, quickly sent a cease-and-desist letter to Sears about one of the Kardashian handbags that happens to look a lot like one of Botkiers. According to Jezebel, the letter said, that theft

“is not necessarily about sticking on a fake label, but can occur when “you are actually taking someone’s design idea.”

Apparently, the Kardashians are used to these types of accusations. When they had their own Fashion line at Bebe, they were accused of copying a Fendi dress. The Fendi dress had a hood and built-in leather corset just like the Kardashian dress did. To defend their Bebe line, at the time, Kim explained on her blog:

“I’ve seen some talk online about certain pieces ‘knocking off’ other designer’s pieces and I’d like to share a little piece of fashion wisdom… the clothes you see in the chain stores at your mall are all inspired by designer, runway fashion!!! What stores like Bebe do is take runway fashion and use it as inspiration to create pieces that are wearable and accessible for everyone. To say any of our pieces are a knock off is like saying every item in every clothing store in your mall is a knock off.”

Anywho, here are photos of the Botkier (on the left) and Kardashian (on the right) bags. In your opinion, do they REALLY look that much alike?
