Watch-Her-Work :: Katy Perry Does Michael Jackson Numbers!
Am i the only one that thinks that this girl is a beast! Katy Perry’s latest single, “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart this week…And guess what that makes her? Pretty effing close to Michael Jackson. She’s the 2nd artist in the 53-year history of the Hot 100 to produce five No. 1 singles off the same album. According to CNN, she’s the first woman and the only living artist to achieve the record.
Perry expressed her excitement on twitter:
What a way to wake up! SO proud to announce that the little-engine-that-could of a song ‘LAST FRIDAY NIGHT’ is officially #1 & made HISTORY! & u know, I couldn’t have done it with out ya, really I owe u guys BIG… so take this moment to give yourself a high FIVE!!! #allbecauseofu
I hate to shove my opinion down your virtual throat, but do we agree she’s dope? Or am I a weirdo? Source

Still ain’t Michael. The music industry machine has tons of devices at their disposal to generate numbers for certain artists. talent and “good music” unfortunately have only shown themselves to be a small part of the equation where generating airplay is concerned. Frankly, anyone with $25,000 cash can go to Radio One and have their music played in all major markets regardless of talent, or song quality. Michael generated his figures PRE-INTERNET and before Pay-For-Play became the beast it is today. Let’s not read too much into Katy’s achievement, at the same time, let’s not take anything away from this talented chanteuse.
