The PR folks from Twitter are reporting that Beyonce’s baby announcement, at the VMA’s on Sunday, was historical in the twitter universe. After she made the announcement, twitter set a record of 8,868 tweets per second. Wondering what else that beat out? The Women’s World Cup and Osama bin Laden’s death. According to @MTVPress, the 2011 VMAs scored the biggest television audience in MTV’s history with 12.4 million total viewers. That’s a breakthrough and a record for the 30-year-old network.
