Idris Elba’s Real Name Rhymes With Melissa + Elementary Thug Life

Idris Elba was spotted out yesterday in Toronto, Canada with a “female friend.” He spent the day shopping with said woman, and later the pair were seen at dinner. Idris, as usual, was looking sexy and cool in a sweater, leather jacket, jeans and a beanie hat. His “friend” wore leggings, her naturally-chic afro and boots. Besides the casual spottings here and there, and gracing the cover of Essence Magazine, Idris has been up to a lot. He recently went on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” where he discussed his bad side. Idris revealed that he was once a part of “Fight Club” in Elementary School and that his real name is Idrisa. Weird…Sorta.

Idris on Fighting:
I went to a new school, when I was about 13 years old. And the first thing that they ask is, “who’s the best fighter?” And you wanna know, so you don’t step on any toes. But I was so bigger than everyone else, that I quickly became the “Best Fighter.” And I hadn’t had a fight yet. But needless to say, I had to defend my title a couple of times.
Idris on His Real Name, Idrisa:
“Well there are a couple of other Idris’, but my name is Idrisa. Like you know, don’t laugh. Yea. The name I was born with, is Idrisa, and when I got to about 9 years old and I realized that there was Melissa and Clairissa, I got rid of the “sa” at the end.
