Ciara Starring in “Mama I Want to Sing” w/ Patti LaBelle, Hill Harper & More

26-year-old singer/actor Ciara (real name Ciara Princess Harris) is starring in the upcoming DVD release of the Broadway stage play “Mama I Want To Sing”. Ciara joins a cast including Hill Harper, Patti LaBelle and Lynn Whitfield. Ciara plays the lead role, as Amara Winter, who is a talented gospel singer with dreams of making it big. Amara is soon discovered by agents who catapult her into the spotlight with recording sessions and television appearances.

Growing up in a tight-knit community, Amara’s preacher mother (played by Lynn Whitfield) encourages her to stay true to her roots and remain grounded. Even through a strained relationship with her mother, Amara goes after her music career and turns to her father (played by Marvin Winans) and Sister Carrie (played by Patti LaBelle) for support. “Mama, I Want To Sing” will be released on DVD February 14th.
